What Is Medi-Cal Sober Living?

If you are experiencing difficulty sustaining sobriety and feel hesitant to transition into early recovery, you may benefit from a sober living home (SLH). An SLH provides a safe, alcohol and drug-free environment. 

Medi-Cal covers substance use care under the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS). Therefore, you will receive affordable, ongoing support after completing medical detox therapy for withdrawal management or residential care at Stairway Resource Center. Medi-Cal also covers long-term care, prescription medications, transportation, referrals to specialists, emergency services, and more.

Stairway Resource Center offers gender-specific group housing options for patients who need a safe, comfortable place to live for up to six months after completing a substance use disorder (SUD) program. These homes are designed to help patients regain their independence outside of a drug rehab center, without being thrust back into a stressful world before they’re ready.

A Real Community That Stays Connected

We are heavily involved in local sober events, including comedy shows, sober parties, and community outreach initiatives (e.g., quarterly homeless drives that provide Narcan, socks, clothing, and first aid kits). Our facility partners with nonprofits focused on addiction, mental health, and homelessness. To ensure Drug Medi-Cal pays for this covered service, you must receive substance use disorder (SUD) services at a Drug Medi-Cal-certified program. Our sober living approach will help you get back on your feet, make friends, establish support networks, and grow while remaining in a safe environment.
